But what you need to consider is that consistency is going to be key because what you don’t want to do is completely change the way you add UTM tags because that’s going to increase your data volume and it’s going to take up a lot of time.
Therefore, when I separate words in UTM tags, I like to just use dashes. You may decide not to use anything. You might decide to use underscores. But whatever you do, always be consistent. Another thing to remember is that Google Analytics is case-sensitive in all of its reports.
So stick with lowercase, so gbp – product, instead of suddenly becoming uppercase GBP or uppercase G and then whatever. Basically, keep it all lowercase. Whatever you do, document your routines, keep records, and make sure you have a spreadsheet that you can share with internal and external people.
Just a few, that’s all. UTM tags, that’s what they’re all about. So, it may seem complicated. Probably not. What I have for you is something I put together with love, This is my Google Sheetit will automatically generate all the UTM tags for you, save them all in one place, and you can share them again with people within your organization.
So here it is. You will find it. All you have to do is put the URL in it and it will automatically generate all these beautiful UTM tagged links for you.
So, I hope this helps. It’s a pleasure to be here today and hope to see you again soon.
