It turns out there’s a new setting that allows businesses to ban phone numbers from appearing on their lists. Mike Blumenthal Reviews say this could be useful for types of businesses like farmers markets that don’t really have a phone number for people to contact for help.
This feature could use some improvements because even if you choose not to include phone numbers in your list, Google will still prompt users to add phone numbers via Suggested Edits.
How to remove your phone number from your Google Business Profile (GBP) listing
To remove your phone number from your listing on Google My Business or Google Maps:
- Sign in to the Google Account you used to sign up for Google My Business.
- Go to Google and search for your business name and address
- Click the three dots to the right of the “Your Business on Google” box.
- Click “Business profile settings,” then click “Advanced settings,” then scroll down until you see the phone number section. There should be an option to not display the phone number.
