The most common strategic planning tool in the world is SWOT analysis. Contrary to popular belief, SWOT does not stand for “Severe Waste of Time,” although in many cases, if done incorrectly, it can. SWOT stands for “Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats”. One of the biggest complaints about SWOT is that once it’s done, we don’t do anything with it. In the following excerpt from my strategy graphic novel, Strategy Man vs. Counter-Strategy Squad: Defeat Bad Strategy and Save Your Plan with Strategic Thinking, I share a technique for translating SWOT into strategy.
