Setting up a Business X account from scratch is not easy. X tends to limit the reach of professional accounts, and people are often hesitant to follow a business, fearing they’ll be hit with a sales pitch.
That said, we managed to grow our @CRANQNow account (CRANQ.ai) increased from approximately 60 tracers in March 2024 to approximately 1,200 tracers in September.
How did it happen? I’ve received a reply.
We optimized our profile…did we do it?
Back in April ’24, this was our X profile.
The profile picture is great – it features Sam, who manages the account – but the header image is too generic and doesn’t grab anyone’s attention with a clear message. Plus, it doesn’t include a call-to-action (CTA).
So we revised the headline, added a more targeted message related to X.com, and added a CTA that focused on the benefits of following our X account rather than just promoting the CRANQ product.
We believe this approach works better, although the statistics are a bit subtle and it feels like seasonality has a large impact on this statistic. Here’s our 30-day tracking of new follower/profile visit percentages!

As a small account, most of your profile traffic will come from other people’s posts, which is why the “responder” strategy works. Starting in May, our goal is to post approximately 250 responses per day. If you’re really dedicated, you can aim for 120 responses per minute and finish in about two hours, one day apart.
The key to being an effective “responder” is balancing quality and quantity. From August 11 to September 11, 2024, we averaged 1 follower for every 10 replies.

Not rocket science. Sometimes I have nice ones, but sometimes they’re just nice pats on the back for people.
Keep track of the people you interact with and work to build and maintain those connections. You’ll gain followers, friends, and learn a lot along the way!

Weekends are more for “casual gamers” who focus on TV shows and memes, but we’re here to do business.
As for our posting style, if you’ve been following us, you’ll notice that it’s a bit sporadic. We love taking the time to create unique posts that we hope will both entertain and inform our viewers.
We iterated the content
Currently, it is a fad to repost old posts on It might work in terms of impressions, but we’re not on X for that.
This year we tried a lot of different content, from #buildinpublic Threads, profiles and indicators, as well as extensive analysis of JD Vance and Tim Walz X’s activities. We also did some more casual and fun things.
We’re probably most proud of posts like repeat analytics and content hooks, but there’s no way of knowing what will get the most engagement. Sometimes it’s the very simple things that spark people’s imaginations! For example, the post below brought us 22 profile visits.
The video gets stronger
X is becoming more and more video-focused, and we know new ways to browse videos are coming. Our videos are so popular on X that we usually leave one as our pinned tweet.
