How to Write an Irresistible LinkedIn Profile Title | By Simon Parsons | January 2025

Use this simple formula to attract more people to your LinkedIn profile page.

LinkedIn is a powerful platform full of professionals looking to do business with people like you.

I started my LinkedIn journey in 2020 after keeping my profile page dormant for over a decade. Once I started learning about the platform, my following grew quickly and I was able to leverage that traffic to create a 6 figure online business that only took a few hours a week to run.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when using LinkedIn is that they view their profile page as a resume rather than a web page on the world’s largest business and professional search engine.

The subsequent mistake is that they use the profile page title as the “title” of what they do and make it all about them rather than attracting potential customers.

What’s unique about your LinkedIn header is that it follows you wherever you go on LinkedIn.

I mean, unlike Instagram or Facebook, every time you post or comment on LinkedIn, your caption goes with it.

This makes it extremely valuable “real estate” that acts like a mini-ad to attract people to your profile page.

Your LinkedIn title has 220 characters, plenty of space to create a great title.

Here are the 3 components of the perfect LinkedIn headline formula:

  • Your value proposition.
  • Your title or what you call yourself.
  • Call to action.

Part 1: Your Value Proposition

You may have heard people call it an elevator pitch. The goal of a value proposition is to tell others what you do and how you help them in a short and concise way.

Here’s what you need to create a value proposition:

  1. Who do you help: Clearly define your target audience.
  2. How you can help them: Describe the service or method you used.
  3. Pain points or desired results: Highlight the specific problem you solved or the result you helped achieve.

Once you have these, you can build a value proposition that looks like this:

“Helping (target audience) achieve (desired results) through (service/method).”

For example: “Empowering executives to lead with confidence and achieve great results” or “I help coaches and course creators grow revenue through the DFY sales pipeline.”

Bonus tip: Add some descriptive adjectives, in the example above I used “amplify” and “except.”

Part 2: Your title

This part is easy, just add your title or what you do (business coach, leadership coach, marketing consultant, graphic designer, etc.).

You can also add some social proof in there, such as awards or certificates you have.

Part 3: Your CTA

Complete the perfect LinkedIn formula with a strong call-to-action that tells them what to do next.

Here are some ideas for CTA content:

  • Book a strategy call with me.
  • Please PM me for a free guide on (_____), a great conversation starter.
  • PM me to find out how you can (get the results you want).
  • Click the link below to get my free (lead magnet).
  • Check out my suggestions/recommendations.
  • Check out my featured section.

Now, join them together.

Again, the formula is “value proposition + title + call to action”, so here are some examples:

  • Turn a side hustle into a full-time income with a proven business framework | Online business coaching | Message me for a free business blueprint
  • Empowered Coach to Build an Automated Lead Generation System that Converts | Certified Sales Funnel Expert | Schedule a Free Pipeline Audit Call
  • Help course creators launch six-figure, ad-free courses | Launch Expert | Message me for a free course launch checklist

Okay, now it’s your turn, use this formula to update your LinkedIn profile page title or save this article to come back to later.
