Crowd Network launches second series of award-winning Greenpeace UK podcasts

Crowd Network (Crowd) is one of the fastest growing independent podcast networks in Europe, with a second season Ocean: Underwater Life Work with Greenpeace UK.

The Heels in Series 2 are a successful first series that won the Bronze Climate Award at the 2024 UK Podcast Awards and was nominated in the Listeners’ Choice Category. It will include 12 episodes, each covering amazing stories of ocean wonders – from beautiful coral reefs and amazing species such as dolphins and turtles to threats like deep-sea mining.

The production series took away a crowd team of two people, spreading around the globe, recording an episode at the Arctic sunrise on the Greenpeace ship, where Greenpeace undertook a scientific expedition and once again conducted a deep-sea mining program in the Arctic. In a series of actions, the podcast’s logo is projected onto the iceberg. Wildlife filmmaker, zoologist and broadcaster Hannah Sitfall returns as host.

Ocean: Underwater Life Designed to make listeners love the ocean while educating them on the threats to promote the need to protect the underwater environment. This is Greenpeace’s “Oceans are Life” campaign, which aims to protect 30% of the world’s oceans from 2030 to 2030 and ban any mining projects in the deep seas.

The release of the second series forms part of the ongoing relationship between the crowd and Greenpeace. One week Ocean: Underwater Lifethe organizations, which teamed up with Relaunch SystemShift earlier this year, have already conducted two series.

As the crowd continues to collaborate with well-known brands and names such as Joe Marler, Dan Cole and Ben Youngs to tell stories through creative audio, video and social channels.

Mike Carr, CEO of Crowd Network Carr commented: “We are always looking for new ways to push creative boundaries and attract audiences, and the second series’ Ocean allows us to do that. Creating much of this series from the heart of the Arctic Circle was an incredible experience that helped us bring the British mission of Greenpeace uniquely and closely to life. As we attract audiences and tell stories in novel ways, the crowd team continues to take our productivity to new heights, and the Ocean is a perfect example.”

James Hanson, Director of Communication and Participation at Greenpeace UK The ocean is life The campaign added: “2025 is a crucial year for the ocean, with several international events likely leading to key decisions. We have witnessed first-hand how podcasts can attract viewers who may have previously been skeptical about climate issues, thus encouraging them to actively participate in the challenge.

The great success of the Ocean Series proves the creative partnership we have with the crowds, so it makes perfect sense to work together in the second series. We can’t wait to know how the second inning will land as we continue to delve into the wonders of the ocean. ”
