The Podcast Academy, an outstanding professional podcasting organization, announced that award-winning journalist, radio host and podcaster Sam Sanders will receive the Impact Award, which recognizes individuals or podcasts who have a significant positive impact on their audience.
Previous winners of the Impact Award include IRA MADISON III (2024) and Teenagers Therapy (2020). Monday, March 31, at the McCormick Convention Center in Chicago, will receive the honor at the 5th annual Audio Awards (Ambies) awards (Ambies) hosted by multi-hybrid comedian Tig Notaro) held at the McCormick Convention Center in Chicago.
As previously announced, IRA Glass will receive this year’s Governor’s Award. The ceremony will be broadcast live by Amazon Music-Twitch from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm CST.
Celebrating excellence in podcasting and improving the awareness and status of podcasts, these Ambies are a unique and personal medium for entertainment, information, storytelling and expression. The award ceremony will highlight 199 nominees in 28 categories, and winners will be selected by each voter of the Podcast Academy (TPA).

Sanders is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and podcaster. He is currently co-host Atmosphere Check Stitcher podcast from Saeed Jones and Zach Stafford, and TTam Sam Sanders performsproduced in cooperation with KCRW and distributed nationwide through PRX.
In 2022, the New York Times named Vibe Check is one of the 10 best podcasts of the year, and the show won the Signal Award in 2022 for Best Popular Culture Podcast.
Previously, Sanders launched and hosted NPR radio shows and its podcast It’s been a minuteinterviews celebrities from JLO to Maya Rudolph to Beto O’Rourke to Malcolm Gladwell. Sanders is also the founding host of NPR’s Podcast, which also covers NPR’s 2016 elections. He founded the Popular Culture Podcast Enter it In Vulture and New York magazine, it was named the 2022 podcast of the year by Spotify and Vogue.
Sanders, named Best Podcast Host by Ambies and Iheart Podcast Awards, is respected by the LA News Club, the National Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists and the National Association of Black Journalists.
His written work appears in New York Magazine, The Political Magazine, The Washington Post and The Columbia News Review. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Incarnation Words and a master’s degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and teaches broadcasting at the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
