Reshape the business | Google’s list of my business and local search

In the local search space, name change is something that happens frequently. This is a list of all places where local businesses need to update online when changing their business name.

  1. First update the website.
    1. Logo need Reflects the new name. Logos usually include label lines. If you want to be clear that something is part of your business name, don’t put it on the second line.
    2. Any place to quote your business name (about our pages, etc.)
  2. Update the site name in WordPress or in any CMS you use.
  3. Update your domain registry.
  4. Update business licenses with the Secretary of State (USA) and elsewhere you listed.
    1. If in Healthcare: Update NPI record.
    2. If in the Law: Update the State Lawyer website.
  5. Update the major data provider. (I suggest recruitment Whitespark To do this, if you don’t build your own reference. )
  6. Update your name in Google My Business.
  7. List your new name on the website on the contacts and about pages, clarifying that you changed your name to “The old name is now the new name for June 2021″…
  8. Optional: Send a press release announcing a name change.

We created a Convenient PDF for this list with checkboxes To get you through any time you need to complete the steps!
